The first to know

For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. (Luke 1:46-49 NKJV)

She was the first to know, the first to hear from angels’ lips the gospel of His coming. The first to hold Him. The first to feel His hunger. The first to know the gentle rhythms of His heart. When love sought a door, a passage of entry, a mother to child itself into this world, she offered up her will, her consent, her body. And Christianity had its first stirrings, cradled sweet in the surrender and in the womb of a maiden.

In Jesus, the son of Mary and the Christ within her, Amen

Benediction: May you enjoy all the blessings that have been assigned to you, as well as some you never would have expected, for heaven is full of surprises when it mingles with things of earth and faithfulness.

Beautiful…. I’ve had that song by Andrew Peterson “Labor of Love” (the Jill Phillips sung version) on a continuous loop in my brain this Christmas. One of the most beautiful things to me about Jesus’ birth is that it was just that–a birth. A mom in very difficult circumstances and her husband doing the best they could bringing a baby into the world.

I discovered your blog from your guest post at Michael Hyatt’s.

Your writing is enlightening. I just love the benediction above. I claim it as a Christmas blessing for myself. :)

I’ll be searching for “To Love is Christ” in local bookstores here in the Philippines.

May you continually be blessed and be a blessing to many! Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year, David!
